Matthew

Chapter 6

1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. {alms: or, righteousness} {of your: or, with your}

1Monhwɛ yiye sɛ morenyɛ mo tenenee nnipa anim, sɛdeɛ wɔbɛhunu mo: anyɛ saa a, morennya akatua biara mfiri mo Agya a ɔwɔ soro nkyɛn.

2Therefore when thou doest {thine} alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. {do not...: or, cause not a trumpet to be sounded}

2Enti sɛ wode adɔeɛ ma a, nnhyɛn totorobɛnto wɔ w'anim, sɛdeɛ nyaatwomfoɔ no yɛ wɔ asɔredan mu ne mmɔnten so, sɛdeɛ nnipa bɛhyɛ wɔn animuonyam. Nokorɛ meka kyerɛ mo sɛ, wɔanya wɔn akatua dedaw.

3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

3Nanso wo deɛ, sɛ wode adɔeɛ ma a, mma wo nsa benkum nnim deɛ wo nsa nifa reyɛ:

4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

4sɛdeɛ w'adɔeɛ bɛyɛ ahintasɛm mu: na wo Agya a ɔhunu wɔ ahintasɛm mu no, ɔno na ɔbɛtua wo ka wɔ anim.

5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites {are}: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

5Na sɛ mobɔ mpaeɛ a, monnyɛ sɛ nyaatwomfoɔ no: efisɛ wɔpɛ sɛ wɔgyina asɔredan mu ne mmɔnten ntwɛn so bɔ mpaeɛ, sɛdeɛ nnipa bɛhunu wɔn. Nokorɛ meka kyerɛ mo sɛ, wɔanya wɔn akatua dedaw.

6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

6Nanso wo deɛ, sɛ wobɔ mpaeɛ a, kɔ wo dan mu, na to wo pono mu, na bɔ mpaeɛ kyerɛ wo Agya a ɔwɔ ahintasɛm mu; na wo Agya a ɔhunu wɔ ahintasɛm mu no, ɔbɛtua wo ka.

7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen {do}: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

7Na sɛ mobɔ mpaeɛ a, monnkasa nsɛm kwa sɛ amanaman no: efisɛ wɔsusuw sɛ wɔn nsɛm pii nti wɔbɛte wɔn.

8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

8Enti monnyɛ sɛ wɔn: efisɛ mo Agya nim deɛ mo hia ansa na mobisa no.

9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

9Enti monnbɔ mpaeɛ saa: Yɛn Agya a wowɔ soro, wɔnhyɛ wo din kronkron.

10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as {it is} in heaven.

10Wo ahennie mmra. Wo pɛ nyɛ asase so sɛdeɛ ɛte wɔ soro.

11Give us this day our daily bread.

11Ma yɛn yɛn da biara aduane nnɛ.

12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

12Na kyɛ yɛn yɛn ka, sɛdeɛ yɛn nso yɛkyɛ wɔn a wɔdi yɛn ka.

13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

13Na mma fa yɛn nkɔ sɔhwɛ mu, na gye yɛn firi bɔne mu: efisɛ wo na ahennie ne tumi ne animuonyam yɛ wo deɛ daa. Amen.

14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

14Efisɛ sɛ mokyɛ nnipa wɔn mfomsoɔ a, mo Agya a ɔwɔ soro no bɛkyɛ mo nso:

15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

15Nanso sɛ monkyɛ nnipa wɔn mfomsoɔ a, mo Agya no nso renkyɛ mo mfomsoɔ.

16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

16Bio, sɛ motwa aduan ho a, monnyɛ sɛ nyaatwomfoɔ no a wɔn anim yɛ kɔkɔɔ: efisɛ wɔsɛe wɔn anim, sɛdeɛ nnipa bɛhunu sɛ wɔretwa aduan ho. Nokorɛ meka kyerɛ mo sɛ, wɔanya wɔn akatua dedaw.

17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

17Nanso wo deɛ, sɛ wotwa aduan ho a, fa ngo gu wo ti so, na hohoro w'anim;

18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

18sɛdeɛ worentwa aduan ho nnipa anim, na mmom wo Agya a ɔwɔ ahintasɛm mu anim: na wo Agya a ɔhunu wɔ ahintasɛm mu no, ɔbɛtua wo ka.

19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

19Monnnhyɛ agyapadeɛ so asase so, baabi a nwura ne nkaa sɛe, na awiafoɔ tu mu wia.

20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

20Na mmom monnhyɛ agyapadeɛ so soro, baabi a nwura anaa nkaa nsɛe, na awiafoɔ ntu mu nnwia:

21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

21Efisɛ baabi a w'agyapadeɛ wɔ no, ɛhɔ na wo koma nso bɛwɔ.

22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

22Nipadua no kanea ne ani: enti sɛ w'ani yɛ kronkron a, wo nipadua nyinaa bɛyɛ hann.

23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great {is} that darkness!

23Nanso sɛ w'ani yɛ bɔne a, wo nipadua nyinaa bɛyɛ sum. Enti sɛ hann a ɛwɔ wo mu no yɛ sum a, sum no bɛyɛ kɛseɛ sɛn!

24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

24Obiara rentumi nsom awuranom baanu: efisɛ ɔbɛtan baako, na ɔbɛdɔ baako; anaa ɔbɛkɔ baako akyi, na ɔbɛbu baako animtia. Morentumi nsom Onyankopɔn ne sika*.

25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

25Enti meka kyerɛ mo sɛ, monnnyae adwene mma mo nkwa ho, deɛ mobɛdi, anaa deɛ mobɛnom; anaa mo nipadua ho, deɛ mobɛhyɛ. Nkwa no nyɛ kɛseɛ sene aduane, na nipadua no nyɛ kɛseɛ sene atadeɛ?

26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

26Monhwɛ ewiem nnomaa: wɔnnwa, wɔntwa, na wɔmmbɔ adeɛ ngu adekoradan mu; nanso mo Agya a ɔwɔ soro no ma wɔn aduane. Mo nyɛ wɔn sen wɔn anaa?

27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

27Na mo mu hwan na ɔde adwene bɛtumi aka ne tenten ho nsateakwa baako?

28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

28Na adɛn nti na monnnyae adwene mma atadeɛ ho? Monhwɛ sɛnea afuo mu susudua no nyin: wɔnyɛ adwuma, na wɔntwa ntama:

29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

29Nanso meka kyerɛ mo sɛ, mpo Salomo wɔ n'animuonyam nyinaa mu no, wɔanhyɛ no sɛ wɔn mu baako.

30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, {shall he} not much more {clothe} you, O ye of little faith?

30Enti sɛ Onyankopɔn hyɛ sare so nwura a ɛwɔ hɔ nnɛ, na ɔkyena wɔtow no gu ogya mu no saa, ɔrenhyɛ mo kɛseɛ dodoɔ anaa, mo a mo gyidie sua?

31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

31Enti monnnyae adwene nka sɛ, Yɛbɛdi deɛn? anaa, Yɛbɛnom deɛn? anaa, Yɛbɛhyɛ deɛn?

32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

32(Efisɛ amanaman no hwehwɛ saa nneɛma yi nyinaa:) na mo Agya a ɔwɔ soro no nim sɛ mohia saa nneɛma yi nyinaa.

33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

33Na mmom monhwehwɛ Onyankopɔn ahennie ne ne tenenee kan, na wɔde saa nneɛma yi nyinaa bɛka mo ho.

34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day {is} the evil thereof.

34Enti monnnyae adwene mma ɔkyena ho: efisɛ ɔkyena bɛnya ne ho adwene. Da biara bɔne yɛ deɛ ɛfata ma no.
